My Weekly Addiction: Revlon Scented Nail Polish

This week's addiction is up a different ally: beauty supplies. I have (not to brag) really nice & long nails. And this year I have really tried to paint them a different colour each week.

A few things you should know about me:
(a) I have absolutely no skill whatsoever at putting on nail polish.
(b) I am severely impatient.

These two problems affect my nail polish choices immensely. I have tried many different brands...even Revlon, and hadn't found a brand I liked. So at the drugstore with my little sister one day, She saw that this brand would dry with a scent...and she begged and begged me for it.

I eventually broke down -- and I am sure glad I did. I borrowed it and fell in love.

This Week's Addiction: Revlon's Scented Nail Enamel

Here are some of the fantastic colours!
The entire idea of a "scented-when-dry" nail polish seemed weird to me at first, but I was wrong. The delicate aroma that comes off of the nails is not too strong, and just a nice reminder when you...smell your hands?

In addition to the nice smell, the colour is bright and vibrant, is quite chip-resilient and is fast drying!

There are 16 different shades ranging is colour, (some even metallic!) and scent!

Not-so-Blueberry
Bubble Gum
Mad About Mango
Raspberry Rapture
Peach Smoothie
Mon Cherry
Coconut Crush
Grape Icy
Gum Drop
Ocean Breeze
Pretty in Papaya
Beach --- (this one smells like suntan lotion; much better than sand!)
Sublime Strawberry
Cotton Candy
Passion Fruit
Orange Pop

My favourite is Raspberry Rapture. The smell is fruity and the colour is bright pink!
The smell is apparent even under a top coat, and (if you put on two coats) the bright colour lasts 7-10 days!

They are available in most drugs stores and are reasonably priced for their quality.

Enjoy, xx*courtney.

My Weekly Addiction: The Pilot Tavern

This week my addiction is an awesome little tavern/bar/grill that me and my friends like to go to some weekends. It is called the Pilot, or the Pilot Tavern, and the place has quite the history.

This weeks addiction: The Pilot Tavern

The restaurant has been around the city streets of Toronto since it opened in 1944 at its original location on Yonge Street. It's catchy, clever name The Pilot, was a tribute to the heroic pilots that fought in World War II. After the war, it became a favourite hang-out for local artists, and the bar remain popular through Yorkville's transition to a hippie community. It was in 1972 that the Pilot moved to its present location at 22 Cumberland Street, in the heart of Yorkville. According to legend, some of the Pilot's regular customers carried the original bar to the new location.

In 1987, the current owners took possession of the popular spot, and have kept it true to its original charm. They introduced the the "Flight Deck", which is one of the largest rooftop patios that Toronto has to offer. They have also introduced the "Stealth Lounge", which is tailored as a more sophisticated party space, that can be rented out for parties ranging in size from 30 to 130 people. The Stealth Lounge offers is own bar, complete with comfy lounge seating.
The Flight Deck, Rooftop Patio!
Nice rooftop Bar!

The food selection is average, but the food itself is quite good. I have never personally had any problems with food or service. And for being in one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Toronto, it is very unpretentious, with a relaxed "jazzy" feeling. It is decked out in Stainless Steel (and looks more like the inside of ship than a plane -- but is still awesome!)

Highlights
- best jazz music in town
- The delicious Pilot Burger*
- large selection of Beer and Wine
- full Bar
- fast service (for a sit-down pub)
- has both bar seating and tables to enjoy food
- newly renovated bathrooms.. **clean!

The crowd tends to be of the "older" variety, however, as a ripe 19-year-old, I still enjoy myself. Its a great place to go out with friends or colleagues. I definitely recommend it! Which is why it is my Weekly Addiction!

22 Cumberland Street, Yorkville (Toronto)

Sun 2 pm - 2 am

Till next time, xx*courtney.

*Trust me, I am the Burger queen. I have sampled burgers from all over the world, and this one is gooooodddd!

My Weekly Addiction: "Madeline's Boutique"

Hey guys. Before I dive right into this new post, I just want to say that if you are a reader, and have something nice that you want me to "review" as my weekly addiction, comment, or email me anytime. I would love the ideas of you readers, and just to know that you guys are reading my blog. So if your parents own a restaurant, or something along those lines, email me, and I will review it for you. Also, spread this blog around. I want this thing to turn out to be HUGE. Okay, pretty big at least. So you guys got to help me out. Thanks again.

I'm going to try to get a couple of good reviews under my belt this weekend, so here is a new one. Now, on to my post. Last time I posted about an amazing blog that I follow. And now I am going another route.

This week’s addiction: Madeline's Boutique, 1841 Avenue Rd, Toronto, ON.

Madeline's, situated on Avenue Road across from a giant LCBO, is a beautiful boutique that sells dresses for all occasions. I know, if you are a Torontonian, then you hear the street Avenue Road and you already know that it will be expensive. I am not going to lie, it is on the pricey side, however, Madeline's carries such a wide variety of dresses that I am sure you can find a more affordable dress within the many racks.

The boutique carries what seems like a hundred dresses in the store alone, and change up their merchandise often. Do not let this small boutique fool you, once inside the small store; you may suffer from a little claustrophobia and at the same time amazement. If you are like me and love shopping, especially for dresses, you will fall in love. I did.

I want to point out that Madeline's carries a lot of the big dress designers such as Sherri Hill, BG Haute, Sherri Seigal and many more.

Madeline & Nick, the owners, are just simply amazing. And of course, their employees are just as great. Although the place is often busy, especially on the weekends, it is worth the wait. Nick can look at you, and with a little guidance from you about what you are looking for, he can pick out a couple dresses that will honestly look fantastic on you. Every body type! Madeline's bubbly personality makes you feel welcome and her accessory guidance is very helpful.

My experience: For prom, I bought my dress here. I have a lot of trouble finding clothing that fit me well, so when it came to getting a prom dress I was sure that it would be a difficult trek. I went to one store that recommended Madeline's to me because of their expansive selection. I walked in to the store and was greeted with a smile and question" what can I get for you?" After a couple minutes I had four beautiful dresses in my hand, which were then hung up on the waiting rack. It was fast and easy. After waiting for a change room, slipping on the dresses, and getting help and advice from the owners, I had found my prom dress. I was in and out in under thirty-minutes, with a prom dress in my hands. They also do altering and can order you something from out of the store. It was honestly the best dress-buying-experience of my life!

I have read reviews that people have left about this boutique and feel that I must mention Nick's personality clashes with some people. Let me put this plainly; he will not deal with your problems. I have seen him with my own eyes ask someone to leave. Madeline's is a very busy, very small store. There is not enough room in there for some lazy girl who does not want to be trying on dresses.

My advice: If you do go there, make sure you are in good spirits, and are open to new ideas. Know what it is you are looking for, and do not fool around.

This wonderful boutique does not have a website, but here is the contact information.

Please make a shout-out in the comment section if you have gone to Madeline's with a little blurb about your experience.

Thanks y'all, xx courtney.

"Big Brother 12 Blog...because you're addicted."

Oh hey again.

First things first, I gave the blog a "new" look. Cute right? Anyways, here I go.

I don't know if you guys have been watching Big Brother, but if you aren't I have two things to say to you: one, don't read this, because there really is not any reason to, and second ARE YOU CRAZY! Watch it, CBS: Sunday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's.

Anyways. If you do watch Big Brother, then HIGH FIVE, and I'm sure you have all heard about the infamous live feeds. Well, if you don't want to spend the money, or you don't want to sit there all day watching, I know of this amazing blog that will KEEP YOU UP TO DATE COMPLETELY!.

This week's Addiction: Big Brother 12 Blog...because you're addicted.

I have followed this blog for three seasons now, and it is honestly amazing. I think that a lot of people think that by "reading ahead" using blogs, you ruin the thrill of nominations and POV winners. Although that is completely true, CBS cannot cram in all the goodness that these blogs have. Drama, Game Talk, Showmances.

My experience: Well, I spend most of the summer without a TV, so three "season's" ago, I started to read this blog, and I fell in love. And now, even with TV, I continue to follow it.

The one I want to point out is Big Brother 12 Blog...because you're addicted.
Here is a link: http://big-brother-12-blog.blogspot.com/

Jamie, the author, is amazing. So do me the favour and follow my blog (the one you are reading) and follow her blog (follow the link). You will love it.

My advice: Follow, Comment, and join the chatroom on this blog. It will change your Big Brother Experience FOREVER!

So thanks guys, thats it from me for now. This is my weekly "addiction". Thanks for reading.
xx, courtney.
